The roof of San Vito, Fountain of 99 Spouts in L'Aquila
The roof inside the church of San Vito is made of wooden beams (which are renovated) supporting red bricks which might have been original, but even if belonging to a later period than the Fountain show interesting symbolic connections to it.
The roof is made of bricks, on which 2 different symbols are painted: a white cross - totally similar to the 2 crosses that appearone in the inscription and one in a single stone on the 7th row of the Fountain - and a "sun" with 7 rays. The "sun" at top of the inscription in the Fountain inscribes a cross, and that on the 7th row of the Fountain another similar cross is carved.
