Ernesto Bellini, nicknamed "Picozzu", spent 60 of his 80 years in Campo Imperatore and the Gran Sasso. When he was 62 he climbed Monte Rosa in the Alps. His friends made for him a cake with the shape of the Corno Grande.

Don Gregorio Paolilli, 82, who was the parish priest in Santa Maria delle Concanelle, Bugnara, has written a book on the subject after researching for over 10 years. Rosalia, the Saint of Palermo was Abruzzese and lived in 1272 in Bugnara.
