Through the streets magicians, fire-eaters, flag-bearers and music for a week now, to re-enact the ancient fairs which made Lanciano famous in the Mediterranean. To keep order and administer justice in the medieval market a special supervisor was chosen, called Mastrogiurato, with jurisdiction on civil and criminal justice. This year the character will be impersonated by sculptor Vito Pancella. Yesterday the traditional challenge among the historical quarters of Lancianovecchia, Borgo, Sacca and Civitanova.
