The fire brigade will be the special escort of the sepulchre of christ, with the Cavalieri di Venerdì Santo. The ancient itinerary will be reintroduced this year, passing through San Bernardino, piazza del Teatro, via Verdi and via Paganica, then piazza Palazzo via Cavour and piazza Duomo. A huge choir made of the nine choirs of the city will accompany the procession in various points.

Candida Rosa Petracca for her 102nd birthday also received a special happy birthday telegram by mayor Mario Spallone, 82, with the wish he might send the message again for many years to come.

The ancient rite will be repeated today. The relic is said to come from Christ's thorn crown, and for centuries it was kept in a chapel in Santa Maria Maggiore. Every year thousands of faithfuls come to the procession.
