On the 4 of December (Army Day) Giuseppe Pagliara, commander of the Carabilieri in L'Aquila from 1940 to 1949, will celebrate his 100th birthday. Born in Campi Salentina, Lecce, he never engaged in politics, and from his position could help many who were persecuted by the Germans.

Civitella Roveto - Celebration of Enrico Mattei / Manifestazione per ricordare Enrico Mattei
The father to Enrico Mattei, founder of Eni, was from Civitella. The great enterpreneur died in a plane crash in 1962. He was very popular in the area, for his activity created many jobs. A commemoration ceremony yesterday.

Ortona - Priest of nicknames disappears / E' scomparso a 80 anni il "prete dei soprannomi"
Don Antonio Politi, for over 50 years parish priest of San Tommaso cathedral, passed away last Tuesday. Born in 1920 in Ortona, he was loved by everybody, not only the religious ones. He knew all about the nicknames, the traditions, the culture of Ortona.
