Born in Chieti in 1907, one of the greatest latin scholars in Italy, Ettore Paratore graduated at 20 years old and was a professor in the universities of Catania, Torino and finally in the Sapienza, Rome. His history of Latin Literature has been a classic for decades, as well as his many books on the great Latin writers. He also assisted Fellini for his film "Satyricon", and wrote about Italian literature and a novel. Of Italian politicians he said «A political class with donkey's ears, unworthy of ruling".

Don Domenico Grossi, parish priest of Santa Maria Maggiore, has been in Guardiagrele for 30 years now. Celebrations tomorrow on the occasion of the Madonna del Popolo and the feast of San Rocco, with the presence of monsignor Edoardo Menichelli.
