Lanciano - Back to the past / Tuffo nel passato, by Mario Giancristofaro
300 characters, over 20,000 people present to the 19th edition of the Mastrogiurato, a special magistrate encharged with administering justice during the big medieval fairs which made Lanciano famous all over the known world. The reenactement was prepared by association "Il Mastrogiurato". The prestigious role was played this year by architect Vittorio Renzetti.

Some years ago a spot featuring a black sheep running after a red Volkswagen Golf against the background of the Corno Grande was highly praised throughout Europe. Other famous spots filmed in Campo Imperatore: Amaro Montenegro, Punto Diesel, Invicta watches, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo with testimonial Kay Rush, and now finally Leonardo Di Caprio.

Pacentro - The Gypsies' run / La Corsa degli zingari, by Antonio Mancini
Massimo Saccoccia wins again the ancient traditional barefoot run. Thousands of people in the public along the steep descent of Colle Ardinghi leading to the small church of Madonna di Loreto. Zingaro, in the ancient dialect of the area, means naked. The competitors run down the descent on sharp rocks and thorns cross the river Vella, then run up the steep alleys of Pacentro and finally lie down before the altar, with bleeding feet. This is not really a sports competition, rather a proof of manly courage. The prize is a piece of cloth.

Fossa - 400 inhabitants to Rome for the sanctification / In 400 a Roma per il Beato Cesidio, by Enrico Nardecchia
Two new Abruzzese saints will be appointed, fra' Cesidio from Fossa and suor Maria della Pace, this 1 October; they were among 120 martyrs killed in China on 4 and 7 July 1900, all of them will be solemnly canonized by Pope John Paul II on a Jubilee ceremony on that day. Departure from L'aquila at 5.15 am. Bookings from don Carmelo Pagano Le Rose, via Bone Novelle, 14 (telefono 0862-410197). A rich program of events will follow in Fossa and L'Aquila.

1800 people at the 5th edition of the "Ru rite de re sette sporte", a rite to exorcise witches away from children affected by some incurable disease.
