The day after tomorrow, at the sanctuary in Roio, forest guards will celebrate San Giovanni Gualberto, their patron, in a Mass with L'Aquila archbishop, monsignor Giuseppe Molinari. Their president Mario D'Ascenzi will remind them of all those who gave their lives to defend the woods.

On the Vezzola river another pieace of history is disappearing: the "bridge of hanged men", built in the Middle Ages to connect the city to the neighborhood, is almost under the ground. The bridge was used for executions, and under the French occupation also a guillotine was placed there. There was also a small chapel to the Virgin Mary and St. Berardo.

«L'Abruzzo dei riti», an ethnic photography exhibition by Veniero de Giorgi at Cantine Casamarte against the background of apparel used for the Loreto ox, the ancient oak wine barrels, the tools used in wineries, can be visited up to 6 august on Saturdays and Sundays from 17 to 20. The exhibition tells the history of the rites for san Zopito and the Vetturali, ancient oil merchants. Over 100 images taken in long years during traditional rites in Abruzzo: The daffodil feast in Rocca di Mezzo, waggon parades in Atri, the Crib in Rivisondoli, the Donativi in Vacri, the Trinitari and so many others.

80 more works by the Palizzi brothers in the pinacoteque in palazzo D'Avalos. The title is «Da Vasto a Napoli verso l'Europa». Giuseppe Palizzi from Vasto and Naples decided to move to France to study landscape art.
