Massimo from Aveia (present-day Fossa) martyr in 251 AD, and Giorgio (Jorio for the Abruzzese and D'Annunzio), martyr in the 4th century AD and legendary dragon killer, are two of the four patrons of L'Aquila, exactly since 1254 when the Pope moved the Forcona bishopry to the newly founded independent city. This is the subject of don Renzo D'Ascenzo latest book presented by prof. Raffaele Colapietra yesterday in the Seminar.
