Bucchianico - Banderesi Feast today / Si ripete la "sagra dei Banderesi"
450 years from the birth of San Camillo de' Lellis (25 maggio 1550) exaclty during the celebrations for the feast of St.Urbano I. The "sagra dei
Banderesi", is one of the most interesting traditions in Abruzzo. The costume worn by the Banderesi is crossed by red and blue stripes, and they wear a head cover made of bird and poultry plumage. After the Mass the Arma santa, the flag (Banjre), Standard and rings are given to the Sergentiere, the sagra authority, who is always a descendant of the Tatasciore-Papè commander who with the help of Sant'Urbano led Bucchianico to victory against the invasion of Teate (Chieti).
