The municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi was born on 22 may 1860. A number of celebrations for the occasion: placement on the facade of Maria Santissima Assunta a stone with an inscription from 1906 thanking citizen Giovanni Thaulero, awards for the prize "Riscopriamo Roseto".

An international congress on "Antropologia e Genetica nell'interpretazione della longevità", at University "G. d'Annunzio" on Monday, 29 may on the results of an expedition of prof. The study offers new discoveries on the poet, and interesting insight into his ladies and finances. D'Annunzio, as many Abruzzese, was more appreciated abroad than in Italy. "D'Annunzio is like a tree: his roots in Abruzzo, his leaves in Europe".

D'Annunzio there expresses the importance of his Abruzzese roots, his love of gaming imprinted in him through his native Pescara (which thanks to him was joined to nearby Castellammare on the other side of the Pescara river to become a province in 1927).
