Giulianova - Dom Serafini, last of the Mohicans / Dom Serafini, dall'Abruzzo a New York
Domenico Serafini, born in Giulianova in 1949, married to Monica from Venice and father to three children, moved to New York in 1968 and started as a free-lance journalist. In 1979 he was appointed director of Tv/Radio Age International, then founded Video Age International, headquarters at 75th St, New York, with offices in Los Angeles and Milan. Now the last independent publisher against the media giants.

L'Aquila - The doctor of mines / Il medico delle miniere , by Federica Farda
Olivo Pastorelli, 74, received the merit cross of the Nordrhein-Westfalen Land, in Germany, along with other 16 Germans. Pastorelli was appointed directly by German Premier Wolfang Clement as a recognition of his long life of work to relieve the diseases of mine workers. Since 1966 he worked at the Catholic Mission in Dortmund, and aired a radio program answering over 6,500 requests.

Lanciano - Rediscovering the coastline / Il turismo riscopre i trabocchi, by Mario Giancristofaro
A project involving five centres, Treglio, San Vito, Fossacesia, Torino di Sangro and Rocca San Giovanni will develop nature itineraries along the coastline typical for its trabocchi, ancient fishing engineering creations of age-old mariners' tradition: in San Vito a 2-km path to the Eremo dannunziano, in Fossacesia the walks of S.Giovanni and degli Abati, in Torino di Sangro the sea-walk "Le Morge" and the Masseria walkway, in Treglio the Sentiero del Mulino and in Rocca S.Giovanni culture centre "Costa dei trabocchi".

Salle - Endangered village / Paese a rischio di estinzione, by Walter Teti
Demographic projections foresee that in 8 years Salle will have only 250 inhabitants left, mostly elderly. Mayor Nando D'Addario offers free of charge the 20 empty houses of the municipality to emigrants willing to stay here. Possible developments are expected through the park economy and the new craftswork school.
