Travel agents and journalists from Poland were received yesterday by Filippo Antonio De Cecco the President of the Pescara airport company, and by the Presidents of the region's council and executive, Antonio Falconio and Umberto Aimola. De Cecco says tourism is the future for Abruzzo.

During a terrible famine in 1600 a poor peasant placed his last greenbeans in a pot of boiling water on the fire, and prayed San Nicola for help. The greenbeans miraculously became hundreds of kg, and everybody in Pollutri could be saved from starving. Since then on the night before St. Nicholas' Day the people spend the night in the square boiling enormous pots of greenbeans to commemorate the miracle.

Two years ago association «Happening» was founded in Introdacqua by Eugenio Milonis to save these animals from extinction. Some days ago he opened a website, which has already been visited by over 1000 people and also features pictures of young lonely donkeys searching for a mate. On the site it is possible to adopt a donkey or get in contact with the association.

A very busy agenda for the next two weeks with a final traditional "tombolata". This Saturday at 18.30 in palazzo Gaudiosi a video will be shown, of the title «I cenobi benedettini d'Abruzzo», produced by prof. Vincenzo Carunchio from Penne. On december 18 inauguration of an exhibition of over 200 vintage photos, 1890 - 1938, of Penne and Pennese.
