«L'avventura di un povero cristiano: Celestino V ed il Giubileo del 2000» is the congress due at the Sala dei Giganti, Università di Padova, to commemorate Ignazio Silone's birth anniversary (1 may 1900). Among the lecturers Liliana Biondi, professor at Università dell'Aquila, Padre Quirino Salomone, director of the Centro studi celestiniano and Gaetano Basti, director of «d'Abruzzo» magazine.

This evening Raffaele Russo will present the latest work by Antonio Grano "La leggenda del chiodo assassino", a fictional court report on the story that Celestine V was murdered through a nail inserted into his brain. Witnesses are heard, evidence presented like in a real detective story.

In the 83rd edition of the most famous cycling event in Italy Vasto will be the only finish line in Abruzzo and resting place for two days. On Saturday 20 november the itinerary will be officially presented in Milan. In representation of Vasto municipality Nicola Traino and Evandro Sigismondi.

Led by mayor Giuseppe Tagliente 30 Vastese are flying to Australia to celebrate the anniversary with the over 7,000 Abruzzese living there.

She lived her last years in Vasto, but asked to be buried near her husband in Montenero, Molise. Unfortunately the cemetery accepts only burials for residents or emigrants, and she was neither. So she can't go to rest near her life's companion. The daughters however did not accept the verdict and, after denouncing the fact to the local carabinieri, asked for the help of a lawyer, of the mayor of Montenero, and of its most famous citizen, Senator Antonio Di Pietro.

After 35 years as a surgeon in Sulmona, Enrico Cappuccilli, native of Atri, joins "Medécins sans frontieres" and flies to Touba, Senegal. «On holiday I met a Senegalese youth selling handbags on the beach, and our friendship grew in the years. When he learnt I was retiring, he suggested to me to visit his country, and escorted me there. That is how my adventure started. The infant and mother death rate is extremely high there, there is no sanitation. I think if you have a skill you must help your brothers». Wife Palma Crea, an Italian and Latin teacher, will accompany him in January.

For the 45th edition of the famous Carnevale d'Abruzzo, directed by William Zola, a music contest open to all composers resident in Italy of any age with an original, never-published piece. After a first selection of 12 pieces, on 20 february a semifinal, and the conclusion on the 27th, with the parade of the five traditional allegorical waggons. All Abruzzese places are invited to take part.
