World-famous scientists Rita Levi Montalcini and Antonino Zichichi are affectionate consumers of the "Re" extravergin olive oil from Pianella. The 1999 harvest seems exceptional, with an acidity below 0.5 and price around 10,000 lire per liter. Gianfranco D'Addario, president of the Plenilia cooperative, says they are working to re-establish an ancestral culture of oil-making dating back to 2000 years ago.

Skiers on Campo Imperatore slopes this 20 November. Onorino Vespa, the president of "Tre Nevi" the joint winter venture comprising Campo Imperatore, Campo Felice and Ovindoli says the new season, starting even before Alpine resorts, is exceptionally promising. Web cams are available on the three skiing resorts to let people check snow and weather conditions on the Internet.

ATRI - Rediscovering tunnels and caves underneath the town / Alla riscoperta dei cunicoli - Atri, progettata una ricerca sulle grotte sotto la città
The many underground artificial passages and caves will be explored by the Archeoclub and Cai Abruzzo and possibly opened to the public. The «Atri sotterranea» project, according to mayor Mario Marchese will try to make accessible to visitors a fascinating network of tunnels, maybe excavated by the romans to connect to a giant water tank.

This 7 November among the 35,000 runners at the world's best known marathon there were also police officer Giovanni Di Martile and nursery director Luigina Splendiani, who made the race in 4 hours and 15 minutes. The two athletes took a letter from pescara's mayor Carlo Pace to his American colleague Rudolph Giuliani showing appreciation for the latter's work. Giovanni says the Marathon is a great race intehgration event going beyond ethnic boundaries.
