The other perdonanza - Chiaretti's thesis on Dante, elector of Celestine V / L'ALTRA PERDONANZA/1 - Presentata la tesi di Chiaretti su Dante elettore dell'eremita
The great refusal is to be ascribed to Pilate, not Celestine. Angelo Chiaretti, well-known Dantist, presented his book "Dante Alighieri grande elettore di Papa Celestino V", describing the events of the «20 days that changed the world». Chiaretti stated, through his relations with cardinal Latino Malabranca and his words to Carlo Martello, Dante worked towards hermit Pietro Angelerio's election to the papal seat, since he believed the hermit would fulfil Giovanni da Fiore's prophecy of a Pastor Angelicus saving the church from the abyss. Proofs are a letter in Convivium, Book II, where Pietro Angelerio is shown as the Church's saviour, and a Giotto fresco in the Bargello palace, Florence, where Dante offers a flower and book to Carlo Martello in front of cardinal Malabranca.
