PESCARA - Vatican Secretary of State Angelo Sodano has started a program of visits through the religious itineraries in Abruzzo with the great sanctuaries: San Gabriele dell'Addolorata at Isola del Gran Sasso, Collemaggio in L'Aquila, Volto Santo in Manoppello (with the shroud showing Christ's face) the Miracolo Eucaristico in Lanciano (with the precious relics of flesh and bone of the Messiah), the abbeysin the Majella, the Dome in Atri, Madonna dei Miracoli is Casalbordino, San Giustino in Chieti and many more.

In Abruzzo there are one thousand owners and 1,500 vintage cars. A committee has been formed to establish a museum where these cars will be on show, 50 at a time: Among the most precious: a 1918 Fiat 15 ter Torpedo char a bancs, a 1904 C.I.D-Baby Ciclecar, a 1908 Renault AG 9 Landaulette, a 1909 E.M.F. 30 Roadster (Usa), a 1914 Fiat 18/P autotelaio, a 1922 Itala 51.

MOSCIANO - The last eclipse of the millennium, this 11 August, is near. Nothing special at the national observatory, while on Colle Leone Fausto Marini, 60, will have a great time on the private observatory he built by himself with his passion and hard work.

TORNARECCIO. For the 5th year now 18 students (from the Oxford, NewCastle and wales, and from Ohio, Usa) within the "Sangro Valley Project", have made excavations on Monte Pallano, An exhibition of the findings is being organized.

GUARDIAGRELE. At 18.30 today the exhibition "Còmino: la necropoli ritrovata" will be inaugurated. Findings date back to the VIII, V e VI century B.C.

TRASACCO. The first edition of "Il sentiero dell'arte" on 22 August in Trasacco. Artists taking part will have to produce a work with any tecnique or form. prizes in money: 600,000 first prize.

CHIETI. A costume parade yesterday through the historical centre for the pentathlon juniores championship on August 8.

BUCCHIANICO. They call it the amusement village since every month there is something to celebrate. The Banderesi in may, festival of typical products in August, Sant'Urbano and San Camillo in July. Life follows a different pace in this small centre on a high hill a few km from the city of Chieti. Traditions here are still kept, as when a young man must make a public serenade with at least three songs to ask a girl to marry him.
