I am trying to locate catholic charity orphanages in Lanciano where my husband was born in 1957 . He lived there from birth to age 18 months. We would like to trace his family, we know they were poor, he given name was Pasquale. He was adopted by Bennie and Katherine (Galetti) Imperiale in 1959, in the USA Kansas CIty, MO.

My family came from the Abruzzo-Molise border at the Trigno river. I visited Roccavivara during WWII & marveled at the toughness of the people & their determination. I then understood how they could persevere through the hardships they had to endure during the great depression. They are a warm, strong & culturally attached people besides being very dedicated to their beliefs, religious & traditions. I'm very proud to have that in my families background.I enjoy great food & hospitality whenever I return to the land of my forefathers. What fantastic scenery; from the ocean to the mountains; through the dales & over the bridges. And, the women are thought to be among the most beautiful in the whole world. After all, my dear mom came from there!

It's great to have an Abruzzese heritage. Great Site....Great Information...I was born in Aielli (Stazione). Great little town...if you have a chance visit in August. I am interested in hearing from any other Macerola or DiStefano (Mothers maiden name) who visit this site..

Fantastic, I'm very impressed, my parents are both Abruzzese & I have been twice, I have many relative there
many aunties, uncles, & many cousins. My fathers family mostly, Paladinetti, on my mothers side, mostly great uncles & aunts
I have been searching my family tree would be very happy to hear from anybody with the following surnames, cioe cognomi:
Palladinetti, Marinucci, Pantalone, Fagnani, Nasuti, Cavacini & Ferrara, these are as far back as I can go basically 3 generations.
In fact my parents are in Abruzzo now for 5 months, (wish I could be) staying in Chieti the region in which they were both born.

I am so pleased to have been informed about this site. I recently began tracing my family genealogy, with three of my four grandparents coming from Pennapiedimonte, Abruzzi. Growing up, I always considered myself an Abruzzese, and guess I always will. Thanks for the great site.
