In August, 1998, my husband and I had the wonderful experience of visiting my mother's "hometown" of Notaresco in Teramo, Abruzzi. I would like to research the DiSabatino family history and would appreciate hearing from any DiSabatinos out there. My mother and her family settled in Philadelphia after arrving in the USA in approximately 1911.

My wife's parents were from Vasto which we visited three years ago. Ho studiato Italiano per quattro anni. Nel (sul?) Il Messagio le parole sono molte piccole. Penso che sarrebbe meglio pe tutti se le parole potrebbe un po piu grande cosi che potremmo leggerle piu facile. Grazie! Se non e possibile, grazie nondimeno. ET

Hallo!
Would anyone have any information on either of my grandfathers: Angelo MAZZELLA (born 1863 in Furci, prov. Chieti) who had sons who migrated to the US in 1920's, or Antonio NANNI (born Gissi, prov. Chieti) who spent 10 years or so in the US in the 1920's? I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for the opportunity to ask.

I am so thrilled to have found this web site. My mother and father's families are both fromthe Abruzzo region. So I know this wil come in very handy. I also was reading the comment about how alot of the abruzzese loose contact. Well that is not the case of the the town of Filetto in Chieti. I grew up in Watertown, Mass. where alot of Filettese seteled and I remember growing up to Filetto picnics and banquets. Well it did stop for a short time but now my generation has brought this tradition back.We know have a Filetto picnic in the summer and a banquet in the spring.
