My family on my fathers side is from Abruzzo. The town is called ASSERGI. I have been there MANY of times I REALLY love it. I am trying to find a book, hopefully in English, that tells me the history. I would LOVE to know. All these years that I have been there, I have not found any reading material nor anything from the internet at all. I am hoping that you can help me. Also the history of the Graziani family.

My father, Bill McGregor, was a South African soldier in the Second World War, taken prisoner by the Germans at Tobruk, North Africa. He was transported to Italy where he escaped and for some months was taken in the the family of Ercole and Esterina Farinosi in the village of, I believe, Colledara. He was subsequently recaptured and sent to a Prisoner of War camp in Germany where he spent the rest of the war. He wa repatriated to South Africa in 1945.
In 1972 he and my mother visited the Farinosi's and it is my understanding that the reunion was a very emotional and warm occasion.
I know they are both now dead, as is my father, but I would like to get in touch with any of their children, particularly as I am proposing to travel to Italy in the summer of 2003.
Any help in tracing the Farinosi family would be much appreciated. This is a helpful website

Hi,
My name is Renee Uvanile. I am curious to find if i have any family still living in Italy. My grandfather was from Italy and as far as I know he was from the province of Teramo. My last name as you can see is Uvanile - but it is pronounced uvanelli - I believe before my family immigrated to Canada it may have been spelt with a 'J'. If anyone out there is familiar with this name and could help me find the whereabouts of my Italian relatives, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks and I hope the right person finds this!!

I was delighted to read about one of my favorite writers: John Fante. I read Full of Life in Korea during the summer of 1953, and the book quickly became a favotite among the other soldiers in my platoon. After I returned home, I also saw the movie, which I now have on video (as well as an old paperback copy of the book). I hadn't been aware, until a few moments ago when I looked at this sight, that the author's father, like my own, had come from Abruzzo. I am a frequent visitor to the area, especially to and around Lettomanoppello.

My husband's grandfather, Cesidio Del Principe, emigrated to the United States arriving on August 27, 1900 at Ellis Island. His ship left from Naples, Italy but he was from Pescaserroli. As far as I know, his family were sheep farmers. The story passed on is that he was the only one of his family who had come to the United States at that time. I am trying to find out if any others came over to the U.S. or if I can trace his family in Italy.

One of the names that has shown on a marriage record in my SAVINI family is a wife named Margherita della MIRANDOLA. This is her name. The maps tell me Mirandola is a town in Molise. Well-meaning folks tell me it simply means she's from that town. But it's listed as her name on parish records in Pescara when she married. How can I determine her genealogy?
