What a wonderful site. My husband and I will be travelling to Italy in August for our honeymoon. I was hoping to find some realatives of my granfather NICOLA CAMPITELLI. He was born and raised in Fossacesia, Chieti Italy in 1897. A few years ago my aunt travelled to Italy to see if she could locate some relatives and possibly find his home. We are hoping to do the same. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.. Sue

This is truly a wonderful site if you are looking for someone. I am just browsing. My mother is from Alvito and my father from Settefrati. They came to Canada in 1954. I was just 2 months old. One day I plan to go see where I was born. I understand the house where my mother lived is now a boarding house for highschool children and the barn has been turned into a restaurant. If anyone out there knows of the history of this schoolhouse I'd appreciate it. It was once owned by a doctor and my mothers family ran the farm for them. Ciao for now.

This is a new E-Mail address: dansr at dipanfilo.com
it was changed from dansr at dipanfilo-dot-com
I am still hoping to receive e-mail from the following surnames that live in Collecorvino, Loreto Aprutino, Penne, Pescara, Rome or any surrounding village or cities. DiPanfilo, Fiucci,Perelli, Pacitti(a)? They all lived in the Abbruzza area near Pescara.
I was fortunate to be able to visit all of those places and and I did meet some Fiucci and DliPanfilo, but, I know very little Italian speech that I could not communicate as well as i should have and so there are a lot of unanswered question's about my parents and grandparents that were all born in Abbruzzo. Hoping to hear from someone.

My father emmigrated to Canada in 1957 and his mother and one sister eventually came to join him. He has one sister in France and another sister in Pescara, who retired from the Verona Sisters.
There are many immigrants from this regoin living in Winnipeg Canada and we are happy to see them.

I'm responding to Linda Cattrel. I tried e-mailing you and it didn't go through.

I was reading the message boards and found the surname Cicone from Pettorano sul Gizio and decided to check it out, since it is my mom's (Adelina) maiden name. All the names you've mentioned in your message describe my mom's family. Your grandmother Carmella was my grandfather's (Antonio) sister.

My mother was actually thinking of Zia Carmella this past week. She was sad that she hadn't seen her in many years and was wondering if she was still alive. I'm sorry to hear that she has passed. I would appreciate if you could let me know when she passed.

I will let my Mom know of the message. If you have any questions about your grandparents, please e-mail me and I will surely ask her for you. I hope to hear from you soon.

There has been some debate in my family over the meaning of my mother's maiden name "Lamanda" (family was from Palmoli). Some think its a derviation of "Le Mondo", i.e. the world. Others think it comes from "La Mano", i.e. the hand. I think neither is correct. Any opininons would be appreciated.
