I'm going to start research on my Fiance's family, last name of DeMaria. Any information would be helpful, because I'm lost. I know his fathers name is John and his parents are from Italy. I'm interested in finding out what the name DeMaria means and how and where it originated from, for starters. It's such a pretty name and not too common here in the USA

Much gratitude for this forum...I am searching for any information regarding relatives in Gioia dei Marsi (Joy of the Marsi) with the surnames of Longhi and Delfini, my grandparents who immigrated to NYC in 1897 and 1905.
Specifically, my relatives are:

Elisabetta Longhi (married Angelo Graziani)
Florindo Delfini (married Elisabetta's daughter, Rosina)
I am certain Florindo's family remained in Italy, since a sister was killed in the 1915 earthquake.

Nino Berardi

di Guido Albanese (dicembre 1943)

Ah!..Ci manche all'Adriatiche 'na perl'

Hi, I was born in Australia but am very interested in my family's Italian heritage. My mother (Delia Di Medio)is from "Civitella Messer Raimondo" (Prov. Chieti) and my father (Quirino D'Alessandro)is from a smaller town called "Gallo".
If you live in Civitella or if your parents are from there, I would like to hear from you. I visited about 10 years ago and have fond memories of the majestic mountains and of the beautiful people. If anyone has information on the Di Medio or D'Alessandro family names, I would also be interested in hearing from you. Cheers, MARIA D'ALESSANDRO.

Hi! I'm looking for some information about the DI BERARDINO's background and for relatives as well.
My greatgrandparents used to say they were from BASCIANO,TE, ABRUZZO. Their names were GIUSEPPE DI BERARDINO and LUCIA FULGENZIO DI BERARDINO. They came to Brazil in 1901. One of the reasons they had to move other than achieving a better life quality was that my greatgrandfather's daddy had a vulnerable health, due to the fact it was too cold over there, his name was GIOVANNI ANTONIO DI BERARDINO and his wife's name was MARIA CARMINE SACCHETO.

My grandfather Antonio Baldassarre came from Cellino Attanasio, Prov. di Teramo in 1913 after his brother Giuseppe came in 1911. His sister Francesca Dolceamore came later. Cellino is a beautiful town high on a hill with some of the best cooks in the region. Many years ago the Cellinesi had a Societa' here in Philadelphia. My father remembers the men roasting pigs the ladies making pasta and the kids having a ball. If anyone who's family as from Cellino goes to Italy, visit that town. It is not a rich town but they would welcome you with open arms. When my grandfather was young, he and many boys who wanted to be carpenters were sent to another town to be aprentices. I would like to know for sure which town it may have been, my father cannot remember. I think it may have been Atri, any ideas? P.S. There is a partnership with the Region of Abruzzo and Philadelphia, PA. It was formed in 1997. It is like a sister city. There are more Abruzzese decendants in Phila. than any where else in the USA.

My great-grandparents Filandro TORELLI and Pulcheria PETRAGNANI were married in City of Archi, Province of Chieti on October 12th 1891. I am interested in finding any relatives of theirs. My grandmother's name was Catherine Torelli. I believe Filandro Torelli is the son of Nicola and Angela LOMBARDI. Does anyone know of these people?

Cioa, I am just beginning so bear with me. I visited Italy last summer (2000) went to the area my father and mother originated. From the information I could gather, my father was born somewhere near Iserna, his name was Guadino (spelling?) Lombardi born 1899. His mother's maiden name was Yannicito, his father was Michale, his grandfather was Antonio. He came to the USA about 1903? with his mother. His father and grandfather came over first. I do not know if they went thru Ellis Island.
My mothers family came from Chieti. Her maiden name was Tate, she told me it was changed from Tati, or Taite, I don't know how it was originally spelled. My grandmother's husband died in the USA and she remairried, his name was Ficco.
Any information would be so helpful and welcomed.

My grandfather, Filippo Di Fabio, was born in L'Aquila in 1903 and came to the USA on Nov. 24, 1920 at the age of 17. He died a few years ago, but gave us some information regarding his family still in Italy. He was the oldest child, and the only son. He had several sisters, and I am hoping to find them or their decendents. Some of their names are Pia, Josephina, Maria, Estella - I believe there were 6 of them. If anyone has any information on any of them, or any ideas on how to locate them, I sure would appreciate it! thanks a lot!! Melinda (Di Fabio) Link

Hi,
I have been in contact with Graziano Foracappa in Italy who located me from a previous posting concerning my family and possible relatives in Abruzzi. Everyone who has not tried the "Ellis Island Records" webpage to check the immigration records should do so, it is very helpful. I am trying to locate anyone in the USA with the surname Foracappa or Foracappo. If you know of anyone plese email me with information. Thank You.
