PLEASE!!!Can someone help me!! I have been searching for so long for my family in Italy. It is a long story but I will try to make it short.
My fathers name was Camillo Gigante, came to Canada in the 1960's, met my mother and had two kids, me and my brother. They never married and he drowned in 1976. I never got to know any of my family. I do know that his family is still in Italy. SanValentino in the province of Pescara. I know that I have an uncle Nicola Gigante that still lives there, as well as some Aunts. My Granfather is Nunzio, and Grandmother Angelina. They do not know that I exist. I really would like to know if anyone knows this family or anyone from SanValentino that could please help me. Truly Laura from Canada :)

Hi, I'm married into a family from Castiglione Messer Marino. My wife's families are called Mucilli and Di Stefano. I've had a lot of fun showing this website to my Mother-in-law.
If you think you might be related to a Mucilli or a Di Stefano from Castiglione, then get in touch!

My grandparents on my mother's side came from Abruzzi. They came here at turn of the century. My grandparents, Sabatino and Lucy Flamini, carried their traditions to America. They ate special meals at certain times of the year. I am looking for these recipes. One in particular is skipbelles (I know that is not the right spelling - but that is how it sounded to me when I was growing up). It is served on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. It is a rolled crepe (made with flour, eggs and water fried in a black pan with salted pork) with cheese and black pepper in it and then layered in a big bowl. Then Granny would pour clear chicken broth over them. She kept adding the broth until the skipbelles stopped absorbing the broth.
It there is someone who has this recipe and the correct spelling, please email me.
I would like to know if there is anyone from Abruzzi who would know my grandparents from Abruzzi. I do know he had a sister still living in Abruzzi when I was young. If there are any relatives still living there, please send me an email. Thank you for taking time to read this note. Mary Ann (Flamini, Luca) Benedetto

Hoping to find information on my mothers grandparents Amerio, Luigia and Tasso Guiseppe and their ancestors. They were beleived to have originated in Northern Italy near Torino in a place called Montiglio in the province of D'Asti. They spoke Piomente. I may very well be at the wrong place as I am not literate enough of the Italian cities and provinces but I am wanting to learn. Thanks for your time.

I have been using this web site for quite sometime now and always discovering new things.
I certainly have enjoyed it. I would like to give praise to Dr. Lamberto Badia who helped me to get
the genealogy in order of my family ancestors of my father's and mother's families back to 5th. generation.
I also had a video made of my home town, it has given my family and I many hours of pleasure.
Thank you again Br. Badia. For anyone that is interested his e-mail address follows.

My grandparents all came from Abruzzi, my maternal grandparents from Ofena and my paternal grandmother from Navelli. I am interested in the names Pasquantonio, (Giannina my grandmother, born 2/8/09)Marini (great-grandmother(maiden))and Silvestrone (Nicol- birth year 1890+/- my grandfather) from Ofena. My grandfather's family was unusual because his mother married her dead husband's brother so my grandfather had several half brothers. The names I remember were Salvatore (married to Felice), "Benny"(married to Angelina) and a sister Aurelia. There was atleast one other brother. As shocking as it was to all of us, our grandparents and great aunts and uncles were all first cousins! Oh yes, Salvati is also related, Celestino Salvati came to the States as a teenager in the late 30s early 40s. My grandmother, Giannnina Giovana Dalgiesa(sp?)had sisters, Carmela, Genevra, a sister who was a nun who died young, and two brothers, Paris and Arturo who both emigrated here to the US and died in the 50s.

My paternal grandfather was Luigi Santucci ( I am not sure if he was from Navelli, but he was Abruzzese). My paternal grandmother was Antonietta (Antonia) Federico from Navelle. Her birthday would have been around 1881.
We are really interested in our great grandparents and the family histories as a whole.
If you have any information, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I live in a suburb of Chicago, IL. I just wanted to let people know that there are alot of last names that are Sciullo, Ranallo, Ricci, D'Ascenzo, and Donatelli that live here. They all derive from a little town called Ateleta, which is in Abruzzo. There is actually a club that was formed in Chicago called 'Club Ateleta'. I just wanted people to know that if they have any questions about any of these last names, and they came from Ateleta or the surrounding areas, you can e-mail me at 'Bello_5 at YAHOOdotCOM' or at 'gsciullo at fonaflavors.com'. Hi, I have just begun to research my family.
We have been told by a family member that our family was from Abruzzo. That is all I have right now. My greatgrandfather was Bernardino Bolli and his wife was Leonilda DeLuci.
Are there any Bolli's in the region? They had 14 children. Louis, Theodore, Andy, Sonny (Nicholas), Michael, James, Benny, Milleo, Raymond, John, Angie and Elizabeth. My greatgrandfather moved back to Italy and had a second wife(?). I believe they had a son(?). All I know is that they were farmers. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone I would appreciate hearing from you. I know my grandfather Milleo was born in Pittsburgh, PA. That was in 1903.
My e-mail address is Ro4Angels6 at aol-dot-com.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

To all members who sign this Abruzzo2000 web page. I would like to recommend Dr. Lamberto Badia a Genealogist .
He looked after researching my family genealogy and I have put it all to-gether in my family history book
for my children to have and pass along to their children when the time comes.
My only regret is that I did not write down the information while my parents were living as I could not remember a lot of the names
but I was able to inform Dr. Badia with a lot of information and it is very important.
So my advice to you younger people of Italian hertiage ask your living relatives and write down the info.
Good luck to all of you and to the staff at Abruzzo 2000 keep up the good work it is a wonderful web page thank you

I am really glad I stumbled across this website. I never knew there was this much information about Abruzzo on the net. My Father (Guido) was born in Cansano in 1939 to Luigi and Francesca (D'ORAZIO). In 1999 I visited Cansano for the first time; what a great experience. It lived up to and surpassed the stories my father told me about when he was a child. A quaint town surrounded by mountains, that seemed to stand still in time. Her parents were Sabatino Varrasso and Carmela Trotta. My grandfather, Francesco was the son of Emmanuele Ventura and Antonietta Epifano. Hi: We will be going to Italy end of June/July 2001. My grandfather Angelo Daniello was born in 1888 in Campobasso and served in the Italian Army in the First World War. I do not know who his parents, siblings were if any. He may have had a wife and family that died in the war. He came to Canada around 1918-1920 and married Mary Zappacosta. Her father was from Italy, Sabatino Zappacosta from Bucchianico, Chieti and he was born in 1870. I would love to find out more about them or visit/talk to any living relatives. Any inforamtion would be appreciated. Marianne from Ottawa, Ontario Canada
