Finalmente! I have found the best site! My parents come from Sulmona and I was lucky enough to visit there for the first time not long ago. My kids and I were completely fascinated with the town, and its history. I would love to find out more about our family name Sinesio.

I am writing a novel about the town of Lentella, in the provincia de Chieti. I just found out that the Church of Sts. Cosmas and Damian is in the town. The strange thing is that I have already written that in my book, before finding out the fact that it was really there. I now have "goose bumps all over my body". Any help anyone can give me in my research about the town would be greatly appreciated. My story takes place between 1916-1948. Thank you. What a great site.

My name is Sharon Angelo and I'm researching my family tree. My great-grandfather came from Ripa Teatina, Abruzzi, Italy. So far this is what I have:
Great-Great Grandfather was Fedele D'Angelo
Great-Great Grandmother was Francesca Centurione
Great-Grandfather was Mauro D'Angelo, born 1888.
Although Mauro's immigration & naturalization papers say Verino D'Angelo, I checked with birth records in Ripa Teatina and he was born Mauro D'Angelo to Fedele & Francesca on April 15, 1888. Mauro came to America in 1906. He married Emilia DiDonato and lived in Minersville, Pennsylvania. I believe Mauro had other siblings, but I'm not sure if they came to America or stayed in Italy. My grandfather was Santino Angelo (they dropped the D). He had a sister Emma and a brother Albert.
If you are related to any of these people, please email me. Thanks.

Saluti a tutti quanti!
Felice Anno Nuovo a tutti!!

Buon gionro a tutti! Great website. Looking for DiRocco family information, from Casacanditella. MY grandmother, Elisa DiRocco Muscatello, was born there and lived in Binghamton, NY when she came to the states. She had 2 brothers, one of whom was named Ruggiero, Roger, and two sisters who remained in Italy, Giulia e ????. She also had another brother who went to Argentina, Buenois Aires, to be precise. Casacanditella is situated in the Abruzzi region. My grandfather was born in Vacri, also of that same region, but I know that family history already. PLease go to Italy, especailly the Abruzzi region. I leave in February as I go over once a year to visit a great-aunt in Vacri. Arrivederci a tutti. In bocca al lupo nel trovare la famiglia

Greetings from Massachusetts! My grandparents came to Boston from FALLO in CHIETI in the early 1900's. We are from two ABRUZZI families, DIGIRONIMO and MARIANO. I'd love to hear from anyone related to us in the states or still in Abruzzi. My Dad, CHARLIE MARIANO has made quite a name for himself in the American & European jazz scene and now lives in Germany. I am a Christian Counselor and the grandmother of 2 girls who are ¼ Abruzzese. Peace to all!

Paternal Grandfather, Giovanni D'Alessandro (b.1895) from Collarmele before emigration to US (c.1916). Some siblings emigrated to US others to South America (Venezuela?) or, possibly, Australia. Coming to Italy for the first time between March and April 2000. My Grandparents were born in Sulmona and came to USA, living in Rhode Island. Would like to find relatives still in Sulmona. Grandfather's name was Croce Mangiarelli, Grandmother was Lucia (Mariani). Know a name of one relative from that area: Bruno and Luisa di Benedetto and their two sons, Franco and Alessio. Bruno retired from postal service. If anyone has information about them would appreciate an email telling me how I can get in contact with them. Thank you.

My maternal grandmother, Rosa Piccirelli (b. 1891) was from Torricella Peligna. She immigrated to the US in 1909, where she married Ernest Roma from Pastena, Lazio. Her last known relative in Torricella Peligna was a niece, Elsia Teti who may have died in the early 1990s. We are interested in learning if we have any distant relatives in the Chieti area.

My husband and I are coming to Italy this March (2000). I've been very interested in visiting areas other than the typical "tourist" spots, but this is the first information on Abruzzi that I've found! The region is mentioned, but none of the travel books talk about the East coast (except Venice, of course). Why is this? Does anyone have any suggestions for a couple of americans who don't want to travel like typical tourists, and would like nothing more than to find a small town to settle in and make friends with? Please feel free to email me with suggestions:
